What would you do?

So, I may be slightly obsessed with sewing at the moment.  I've been working on some things and today I'm seeking your advice with a fabric choice.

Swing Jacket

I found this precious coat pattern on Etsy and I'm making it for Junebug.  I've chosen the main fabric--a gorgeous green corduroy.  Green is Junebug's color.  It has always looked good on her so that was a simple choice.  But the lining fabric is another story.

Which do you prefer?

Choice 1 - Mustard yellow with cotton blooms

 Choice 2 - Multi-colored fabric in a fun pattern:

If it helps at all in making a decision, Junebug picked out some buttons for the jacket.  They're orange and I thought they'd look great with the green.  (She already has great taste!)  The jacket is supposed to have a big bow on the front for closing, but if I know Junebug, she'll fight that tooth and nail (possibly literally) so we're opting for a button front (more like a pea coat).

Here's another view of the coat:

So, which lining fabric would you choose? Your feedback is greatly appreciated!

  1. I'd go with the mustard lining! Seems like it goes better with the orange buttons. Love the jacket, it will turn out so cute.

  3. Love the coat and both fabric too. But if I had to pick, it would be the multi-color one.

Can't wait to see the coat.

  12. Mustard lining...but the orange buttons don't really jive...like you were trying to match but missed. I'd use white buttons, or silver. If using the orange buttons, the multi-colored fabric.

  14. I like the mustard cotton blooms best. I feel like it's a little more interesting than the multi. And the buttons go so perfectly with the combination of fabric choices!

  17. This is such a cute jacket! I would go with the multi-colored fabric. I think it contrasts with the orange buttons better. But in the end, this is a liner and will only be seen a little, so if you or your daughter have a favorite, then go with that! Can't wait to see the finished jacket!!

  20. Multi! Mustard is gorg but better for an adult. The multi is perfect for a little girl.

  22. IMHO little people look cute with little patterns. For your size the blossoms , and bow it out- for the bug...multi print and buttons

  23. I would go with the mustard yellow with blooms. This is a fall coat that you are making out of corduroy with orange buttons. The mustard with go with the fall theme better. The bright multi is really cute, but it seems like more of a spring/summer print to me. Definitely the mustard.

  24. Oh man. I love that mustard yellow for myself. Looks so chic and vintage. But since it's for your daughter, maybe go with the other one? It looks younger and more fun!

  26. I'd go for the mustard too. I really like both prints, but once I saw the buttons, I thought mustard would be better with the orange buttons...
    Cute jacket by the way!
